JOHNNY ROMEO Special Release: Ned Kelly

After two sell-out shows in Sydney and Perth in 2010, the bombastic pop painter Johnny Romeo is completing a major commission of three large-scale works based on his 2010 Ned Kelly series. The works will be unveiled in early 2011 and exhibited in February in Perth at United Galleries and 19 Karen Contemporary Artspace in Queensland. Romeo is known for pop culture images that deal with the way we construct our identities. He plays on themes of cultural homogenization, media saturation, celebrity fetish and brand name heroes.
